How to accept gift cards as payment in a digital store

To accept gift cards as payment, let buyers buy a gift card worth at least the order total, send you its code, and deliver only after you've redeemed it yourself. ShopFast's Gift cards method does this with Binance (USDT) and Steam cards or any card you add, gives buyers Buy on Eneba and Buy on G2A buttons, and holds every order for your review before delivery.

Some buyers can’t pay you by card or crypto: their card is declined abroad, they don’t have one, or they’d rather not use it with a store they’ve just found. Many of them can still buy a gift card on a marketplace and pass you the code. Accepting gift cards as payment turns that into a sale. It’s slower than a card payment, since you redeem each code yourself, and it needs care, because gift cards are a favorite tool for moving stolen money. This page covers how it works and how to run it safely.

This page is about taking gift cards as a way to pay. To sell gift cards and top-up codes as your product, see how to sell gift cards online.

How to accept gift cards as payment, start to finish

  1. At checkout the buyer picks Gift card, then a card: Binance, Steam or one you added.
  2. They see exactly what to buy: the card value that covers the order. A $23.50 order is one $25 card, and a large order can take up to five cards.
  3. Buy on Eneba and Buy on G2A buttons open the page for exactly that value in a new tab.
  4. The buyer buys the card and sends you its code from checkout.
  5. The order waits in Orders → Awaiting payment, marked To review, and you get a notification.
  6. You open it, choose Show the codes, redeem them in Binance or Steam, then press Accept and deliver. Only then is anything delivered.

If a code doesn’t work, press Turn down and give a reason the buyer reads. They can send another code within an hour, or you close the order.

Binance gift card payments

Binance cards are ready to use: USDT cards for orders in US dollars, in the usual values. You redeem the code in your Binance account and the value arrives as USDT, a stablecoin meant to track the dollar. For a seller who wants to be paid in crypto without asking buyers to handle a wallet, it’s a middle road.

Buyers who do have a wallet are better off paying you directly with crypto to your own wallet. That needs no review: the order is delivered as soon as the payment counts.

Steam gift card payments

Steam cards take the values and currencies you sell in: a US card for USD orders, a euro card for EUR orders. Before you turn Steam on, think about what you’ll do with the balance. Steam wallet funds stay in Steam: you can spend them on games and items there, but you can’t withdraw them as cash. That suits a seller who spends on Steam anyway, and not one who needs the money in a bank. Read Valve’s own terms on how Steam wallet codes may be used.

Add another gift card

Add another card works for any other gift card. Give it a name, a picture (ShopFast’s drawing or your own from the media library), the values you take and instructions for the buyer. Then paste its Eneba and G2A pages, or one page per value when the site lists values separately.

Links must be https pages on www.eneba.com or www.g2a.com themselves. Links to other sites, look-alike addresses and links that send buyers somewhere else are refused when you save, so a fake “buy here” link can never reach your buyers through your checkout.

The gap between card value and order total

Gift cards come in fixed values, so the buyer usually pays a little more than the order. In the example above, a $25 card for a $23.50 order leaves $1.50. You choose what happens to it, and the buyer reads your choice before buying:

Your choice What happens to the difference Good for
Store credit It becomes the buyer’s store credit when you accept the order Repeat buyers, goodwill
You keep it It stays with you Simplicity, when you say so clearly up front

Store credit is the friendlier choice: the buyer sees the leftover as money toward their next order, and it gives them a reason to come back to your store rather than someone else’s.

Keep gift card payments safe

Gift cards are a common way to move stolen money. Never deliver before you have redeemed a code yourself, and turn down any code that is already used or invalid.

The method is built around that rule:

  • Nothing is delivered before you accept. Every gift card order waits for your review.
  • A code works once. A code can be sent to ShopFast only once, at any store.
  • Codes are protected. They are encrypted, only teammates who can confirm payments see them, and every viewing is recorded in your activity log.

Fraud Shield also checks every checkout before the buyer gets to pay, with blocklists, VPN and proxy checks, velocity limits and your own rules (Fraud Shield). If you refund a gift card order later, the refund can go out as store credit (buyer protection). The wider playbook is in how to prevent chargebacks on digital goods.

When gift card payments make sense

  • Your buyers struggle with cards. A card bought on a marketplace reaches buyers your other gateways can’t.
  • You can review orders quickly. Buyers wait for you, so check the queue during the hours you sell.
  • As one option among several. Put faster methods first in your payment order and gift cards after them. Checkout rules let you offer a way to pay only to buyers in certain countries or for certain order totals.

Gift card orders skip automatic delivery on purpose, so say on your product page or in your checkout instructions that gift card payments are checked by hand. For gaming audiences, paying with CS2 and Rust skins is another option without a card. Every method side by side is in payment methods for digital products, and the setup details are in connect your own gateway.

Step by step

  1. 1. Install Gift cards

In Money → Payments → Your own gateways, install Gift cards. There is nothing to connect.

  2. 2. Pick the cards you take

Turn on Binance (USDT cards for US dollar orders), Steam with the values and currencies you sell in, or add another card with its own name, picture, values and instructions.

  3. 3. Add the Eneba and G2A pages

Paste the Eneba and G2A page for each card, or one per value. Buyers then get Buy on Eneba and Buy on G2A buttons for exactly the value they need.

  4. 4. Choose what happens to the difference

Decide whether the gap between card value and order total becomes the buyer's store credit or stays with you. Buyers read your choice before they buy.

  5. 5. Review, redeem and deliver

When a code arrives, open the order in Orders → Awaiting payment, choose Show the codes, redeem them, then press Accept and deliver or Turn down.

Questions sellers ask

Which gift cards can buyers pay with?

Binance USDT cards and Steam cards are ready to use, and you can add any other gift card with its own values, picture and instructions. Buyers buy them on Eneba or G2A.

Are gift card orders delivered instantly?

No. Each order waits until you redeem the code and press Accept and deliver. That review is what protects you from used or stolen codes.

What happens if a gift card code doesn't work?

Turn the order down with a reason the buyer reads. They can send another code within an hour, or you close the order.

What happens to the leftover value on a gift card?

You choose: it becomes the buyer's store credit when you accept the order, or you keep it. The buyer sees which before buying.

Can the same code be used twice?

No. A gift card code can be sent to ShopFast only once, at any store, so a code someone already sent can't come back to you.
